A good thing for Provo

My Uncle is running for Mayor of Provo!!!

I'm so excited! I copied this post from my cousin,
Kirsten's blog to let you all know a little bit more about this amazing man. The other day 700 letters were sent out announcing he will be running for mayor. In the letters he says:

"I have decided to run for Mayor of Provo in 2009. I am running for Mayor to help ensure a strong and vibrant future for Provo and because I agree with Edmund Burke who said, "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

Provo is facing a crossroads and, as with all similar opportunities, the question is: Will we rise to meet the challenges? My campaign will present a positive vision to Provo voters. I worry about the lack of civility in our system. I will champion solving issues we face through openness and inclusiveness. My administration will take the best ideas no matter where they come from. Passion and hard work, not politics, is how I approach issues. I will stand for safety in the community, build unity at all levels, and bring in businesses that will help our city by providing good-paying jobs and provide the economic base we need for the essential services of our City."

Along with my cousin Kirsten, I remember helping out with his campaign years ago. That was so fun to see our whole family pull together and help support him. It taught me a lot about politics at the age of 14.

My Uncle is a really great guy and I know he comes from a great family, as well as the one he has helped raise. I hope he knows I support him anyway possible and I encourage everyone to get to know their local Politicians running.

You can read more about it here and here and here.

Grumpy me.

#1
reason why I want to live in space.

Gravity.

That way... when you have a cold in space you don't have to worry
about waking up in the middle of the night to turn over so the other nostril can share in on some of the joy of breathing.

This is what I have concluded.......

Earth = Gravity

Gravity + stuffed noses + sleep = uneven uncomfortable nostrils

Uneven uncomfortable nostrils = grumpy me

Tut-tut... it looks like rain!

This afternoon as church got out we all routinely made our way upstairs to head home. As I approach the glass doors heading outside I note in my head there is a fairly large gathering of people socializing today after church.

As I bounce toward the glass doors I glance outside and stop dead in my tracks-it is pouring outside.... and I mean pouring. I look down at the floor inside the building and realize that even with the ceiling above-the rain found it's way into the building.

I wait a second to take in the damage of brave students just arriving at church and take note that it isn't good. I spot a pretty girl (who probably spent about 45 minutes straightening her hair this morning) gather up her tangles of once beautifully straight hair and wring gallons of water out of it.

I look around at all of the people around me and realize that nobody is wanting to go outside into this madness. Even the men are waiting, hoping somebody who was smart enough to bring an umbrella this morning, will offer to share.

Girls start flirting with the male closest to her - hoping he didn't remember how she had been ignoring him all month and would be entranced enough to take off his suit jacket for her to cover her head with as she dashed out into the pouring rain.

I laugh to myself and think.... "Silly people! It's only a little of rain!" As I start to open the doors, I really take in how
wet it is outside. Puddles make up my next 30 feet of distance-none of which is possible to be avoided. Rain drops are pouring down into this lake of madness and bursting back up into the air what looked like about 5 feet.

Flashes of me getting ready this morning and wrapping my hair around the curling iron for what felt like 3 hours flood through my memory. Suddenly, the dress I am wearing becomes my favorite dress I have
ever owned and I'm not sure how I can stand to allow it to get wet. I curse myself for not having a boyfriend as I watch one of the guys tell his girlfriend he'll go get the car and pull it around for her.

I stall for about 20 minutes and realize this storm will not cease until I come out.... but reminders of my newly acquired favorite dress (within the last hour) and flashes of me spending 7 hours curling my hair this morning pound through my memory.

I come to the conclusion that, sadly, there is absolutely no way I can ruin this favorite dress and favorite hair. I start walking around the building looking for something to cover my head with as to shield the damage. I am unsuccessful the first 8 rooms when I walk into what looks like Heaven and glance over to the garbage (not really sure why that was in Heaven) and I see Indiana Jones popping out. I'm not really sure why that is in Heaven either but I decide to take a closer look. As I inch closer I realize Indy's home is indeed an ad on a PIZZA BOX!!!

I get excited as I yank the Indy and the box from it's home called the trash can and carry it with me back to where everyone else is still congregated. As I open up the pizza box, I barely pay attention as a piece of half eaten crust falls onto my head.

I know everybody in that building is looking at me at envy as I strut outside into the rain-made "lake" with my hair still bouncing perfectly.

"Oh, clever me... clever me!" I think to myself as smugly smile to the 4 drenched girls running to their car.

Bad Apple

So I just spent all of my money for this week's grocery's on about 10 amazingly beautiful looking apples.

BIG MISTAKE!!!

These apples were H U G E and I mean big. They looked so perfect! They were mostly red in color with s.p.l.o.t.c.h.e.s. of yellow and green mixed in there (not like the picture.)

I'll tell you... if there were a Miss Apple Pageant...(like Miss America Pageant) these apples were bred to win it. They were perfect in appearance. Flawless in color and easy on the eye.

However, they would have failed the interview part of the pageant... because I'll tell you- I took one bite into that apple and my mouth mushed into it. It was like seeping my teeth in pudding. I fell for this apple's trickery and I am ashamed.

So I am asking you, my bloggers to help me with my trouble and woe.... What apples are best?

Acquired OCD

I know some of you are going to laugh at this. But as I have become older I have become more and more O.C.D.

Definition:

A psychiatric disorder characterized by obsessive thoughts and compulsive actions, such as cleaning, checking, counting, or hoarding. Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), one of the anxiety disorders, is a potentially disabling condition that can persist throughout a person's life. The individual who suffers from OCD becomes trapped in a pattern of repetitive thoughts and behaviors that are senseless and distressing but extremely difficult to overcome.
Okay, granted it's not that bad... but slowly and slowly disorganization and mess has become to really bother me.

And it's annoying!

Things that I don't like:

Things that I like:

My poor room mates are starting to hate me. Every time a dish is left out, "Is this yours?" Granted, I do say it nicely... but IT JUST DRIVES ME CRAZY!

I think I clean the house at least once a day. And if I don't, I silently go crazy in my head hoping one of my other room mates will.

Brides

Happy 31st Anniversary Mom and Dad!!!!

********************************
About 31 years later, my moms oldest daughter was looking

for her own wedding dress

And we found it!!!! Trust me, it's beautiful. She looked so elegant in it and it was just so "ANGELA!" We weren't allowed to take picture s of the dresses.

I'm so excited I was able to go and share that experience with my oldest sister. It meant a lot to me. Enrique is perfect for her and if you haven't met him yet, you will at the wedding... you will know what I mean.

After purchasing the dress... (another reason I am glad I went. Now I know what my budget limits are for my dress when I get married. tee hee)

Welcome to Cougar town.

Angela and Enrique set their date for their wedding.

Saturday, November 22nd 2008.

They booked the temple time.

They booked the reception hall.

They told family.

Family was
not happy.

Family is incapable of hosting an event on the day of a BYU football game.

The Father of the Bride would go missing.

Groomsmen would be very grumpy.

Cousins would not attend.

Uncles would be ever so bitter.

Doesn't anybody know the FAMILY closes down for BYU?

Doesn't anybody know the TOWN closes down for BYU Football?

Doesn't anybody know the STATE closes down for BYU vs. Utah games?

CANCEL ALL THE PLANS!!!!!!!!!
RESCHEDULE!!!!

This family cannot have a wedding on the same day as BYU vs. Utah football game day.

Welcome to Cougar town.

New wedding date set: Friday, November 21st, 2008.

LOVE WAITS

Many of you have probably heard of them... the three new heart throbs that have taken over teenage girls hearts.

I downloaded a couple of their songs and was surprised when I liked their music. However, I refused to be apart of the "GIRL HYSTERIA" surrounding them. And just respected them for making good music.

Who are these three beautiful brutes that girls have been going gaga over?

Well I'll tell you.... Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas... or more famously known as....

The Jonas Brothers.

Last night, MTV celebrated and the 25th Annual Video Music Award Show (or the VMA's.) MTV is known for it's controversial surprises every year...

(Madonna's performance of "LIKE A VIRGIN," Michael Jackson's award he thought he earned, Britney Spears and Madonna's kiss... and how could we forget last year when Britney gave a very sloppy drunk performance.)

So, yet again... MTV surprisingly took an awkward choice when choosing UK Rocker Russell Brand to host the award show. Brand- literally an unknown in the US- is known in the UK for his outlandish remarks didn't hold back on Sunday night.

Brand first took a shot at President Bush calling him “that retarded cowboy fella.”

....Let me just stop right there and say as I have gotten older, I have taken the word retard out of my vocabulary and realized it is not something to be thrown around as an insult. If you would like to understand further why this is, take a look at this blog of my best friends mom, Jeni entitled, "She is not an insult."

So when I heard him say this, I was LIVID. How dare he come to our country and make fun of our President. If he has a problem with anythings then LEAVE!

While Brand’s political comments certainly brewed up a storm, what drew arguably the biggest response was Brand’s repeated jabs at the Jonas Brothers and the purity rings they wear as a symbol of their vow not to have premarital sex.
The three brothers, who also stay away from alcahol, tobacco and drugs, wear the rings on their left-hand ring finger as a symbol as a "promise to ourselves and to God that we'll stay pure until marriage."

At one point of the show, Brand crudely pretended he'd stolen a Jonas brothers virginity as he played with the ring on his hand. He then made a very rude remark (which I decided to leave out)

Jordin Sparks, who is also a fellow ring wearer, used her time on stage to rebuke the British funnyman's remarks saying, "I just want to take the time to say it's not bad to wear a promise ring because not everybody, guy or girl, wants to be a slut." (Gotta love her!)

I, however, have to say I have a new found respect for the Jonas Brothers and Jordin Sp
arks.

Now, besides respecting them for their music, I respect them as people and as individuals. It takes a lot as a celebrity to stick up for what you think is right.

Thank you
Jordin Sparks, Nick, Kevin and Joe Jonas for setting
good examples to those that look up to you the most.
